Rylea is a coach who gives 100% into encouraging girls to achieve at their highest potential through positive leadership, role modelling and providing opportunities to grow, she challenges themselves to succeed in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment. She spends many extra personal hours developing many team, solo and duo routines, as well as many voluntary hours supporting the other coaching staff with their teams.
By providing a range of opportunities for each athlete to grow within cheerleading itself. Whether that is providing opportunities through participating in multiple teams, or achievement in solo or duo routines. Rylea also provides individualised private one on one lessons, tailored specifically for the athlete needs. She Provides opportunities for athletes to develop leadership through coach and assistant coaching programs. Celebrates and promotes success as well as encouragement, understanding and learning from moments of winning or losing competitions. Regardless of where a team has placed during a competition, Rylea will not seek to lay blame but will discuss the results and judges comments and together with the athletes and parents, look at what the did really well in, where the improvements need to be made and what the next steps are, placing value in the experiences over the placing.
Rylea Using video recordings during practices as immediate visual aid to developing deeper understanding of what she is trying to coach them.
Rylea strives to lead by example, through her own commitment in time and travel to Auckland for her own training and cheerleading career. Rylea herself is a very shy girl who suffers anxiety, so wants to give every athlete an environment where they can fell that they belong, that they are challenged but can achieve, where failure is seen as learning and develops the desire to aim high, learning opportunities, personal as well as professional growth and where family values and togetherness is felt by all. Whanau are encouraged to be apart of the athletes growth and development through learning ways they can support them, being part of special events and in share the experiences. Rylea will go beyond the gym to the athletes school for extra training and development if/when needed.
We can see that Rylea has succeeded in this area through the interactions she has with the athletes. During competitions and other events past athletes will seek her out to share a hug, discuss their journey or take a photo. It can be seen in the athlete passion/obsession with learning everything cheer related, in their drive to learn. it can be seen in the role growth and from the praise from the parents that we have recieved.
I feel this is best seen at competitions right after a athlete has competed. when they come of the competition floor, exhausted and race directly up to Rylea to embrace her in a hug, in the tears of joy when they have placed and the pride in their face even when they haven't placed but know that they have given their best performance.
Quote from a parent (Panekuhukuhu Muru): "Huge mihi to our Cheer Coach Rylea @smiles_cheer for being the greatest, most talented Coach ever!!! How you manage to not only stay at the top of your game in your own Cheer Life but also work the magic you do with all our Xtremers I will never know... Grateful for everything you do for My Princess"
Seen in the athletes that are facing challenges in their skill development and continue to strive be their best. Seen through Rylea's actions to console, support and encourage athletes during low times or moments of their perceived failure.
